National Audit Office has conducted audit of the implementation of the Programme of Museum Modernization 2007-2015 (Programme) and recommended the Ministry of Culture to update it also establishing modern quality requirements for museum buildings, expositions, management and services, updating qualification requirements for museum professionals, ensuring qualification development for museum staff and dealing with the issue of optimal museum network.
„The Programme is developed without having in place the strategy for museum development although this requirement is defined in the Law on Museums, its aims are not orientated towards concrete results, whereas evaluation criteria do not allow to evaluate the level of achievement of the Programme aims and objectives, therefore there are no sufficient prerequisites for the effective implementation of the Programme, said Deputy Auditor General Nijolė Mickuvienė when commenting on the audit conclusions. Representatives of the National Audit Office of Lithuania along with colleagues from Denmark, Austria and the Netherlands are invited to conduct a peer review in the Supreme Audit Office of Poland (SAO).
On 18-20 January the first meeting of the peer review working group chaired by Denmark took place in Warsaw. The peer review expert from the National Audit Office of Lithuania is the Director of Audit Development Department Mindaugas Macijauskas. Read more |
